| Chaplaincy Busker comes to Golders Green Road |
|
Rachelle Arulanantham raised funds for UJC by busking one sunny Sunday on Golders Green Road.
Thanks to regular visits to Cambridge, I still maintained my relationship with the chaplains even during the year following graduation. When I heard about the financial problems facing Chaplaincy I wanted to give something back, both to say 'thank you' and to ensure others could receive the support I'd enjoyed on campus. As I'm still on a student budget, I felt that doing a Chaplaincy Challenge would achieve much more than a personal donation. I'm pleased to have raised so much for Chaplaincy, and hope that others are encouraged to take on a Challenge of their own in the future!' I am originally from Aberdeen, graduated from Cambridge (BA English) in 2008, and am due to start the LPC in London this September. I also played in a folk band in Cambridge, hence the busking |
Having
grown up in a provincial community with little Jewish contact, going to Cambridge was my first
real exposure to life in an active Jewish community with others of my own age.
The Cambridge chaplains were crucial in encouraging both my spiritual
development and my integration into the student community - I also witnessed
firsthand how they supported other student groups, such as Israelis and
postgraduates, who did not always feel comfortable in the local Jsoc.
